COLONIE, N.Y. -- How many toys does it take to fill a school bus? South Colonie Schools and the US Marines are hoping to find out.

The two groups kicked off the Stuff the Bus event to benefit the Toys For Tots campaign. They stood outside the Toys R Us on Wolf Road Saturday morning, collecting new and unwrapped toys. They want to make sure no child goes without a present this holiday season. Volunteers are hoping to grab people out on their holiday shopping rounds.

"Hopefully deal with the shoppers, have them come drop off some toys, you know just make their presence known in the community. This bus is out here, we definitely want to fill it, maybe one, maybe two, but we definitely need help from everybody,” said Sergeant Josh Kaplan, U.S. Marine Corps.

Annually, the campaign provides about 60,000 toys to needy children in the Capital Region. The toy bus will make appearances at the Northway Mall, Denoyer Chevrolet, and Colonie Center.
