Platoon 1092...Dismissed!
These will remain some of the greatest words I have ever heard. Its currently 0730 and I just braved the ride home with my mother. I can't believe I am away from Parris Island and that I am a Marine. Well it seems like most of you know my story and by the looks of it I have been well cared for and tracked and I truly appreciate it.
However for those of you who don't know about me I will tell you. I'm a 23 year old USMC PFC (wow that feels good to say). I graduated bootcamp as the 4th squad leader of HONOR PLATOON 1092. Rifle Sharpshooter (214), 266 PFT, WSI 2, etc. etc. My Drill Instructors were: Senior Drill Instructor Sgt. Jackson, Drill Instructor Sgt. Esparza-Perez, Drill Instructor Sgt. Faye, and Drill Instructor Sgt. Sylvane. These men will remain some of the most important men in my life.
Enough about me because I will be spending enough time talking about it later. I have a wedding tonight, but have 14 days recruiters assistance along with my 10 days leave to share my story. There will be plenty of "I'm up...they see me...I'm down" time after that so I am going to relax.
I need to thank a few people for their support. I need to thank Kim for the awesome cards and letters of support. To Sgt. V. for keeping me updated with my fraternity, keeping me motivated, and sending me some good pics. SSgt. Nelson thank you for your letters and for holding down the fort. To Yellowwing...you sent me one of the most motivating letter I had in bootcamp and I had it posted on my footlocker the whole cycle. JDNCowboy you may not know it but your letter was the most gracious and really made me feel like I accomplished something by being here and I hope to keep track of you while you go to bootcamp. Justin, loved hearing from you and the friendship and fun will continue. Kurbs, you also had a letter that flattered me and I appreciated it. Well there is probably some I missed, but there is one important one that I have to do.
Cpl. Blaylock, I must thank you for your friendship, your desire to teach me and learn from me, your will to fight, your display of the Core Values, and your strength. Your letters were honestly what kept me going. They were what I hoped to get everyday and especially on the bad days. I am sorry you couldn't come to my graduation, but keeping hanging in there, the time for our meeting hasn't passed. I have something for you Dave and keep on the lookout for it.
I'll be on a lot in the next few weeks so get me those questions. I am proud of everything I have acommplished and have become. Semper Fidelis and Godspeed to you all.
