Hollywood helps Marines prepare for war
A scene straight out of a war movie played out at Fort Pickett Friday.
A special effects company, which spends most of its time in Hollywood, transformed an urban-warfare training ground for the U.S. Marine Corps.
The scene helps U.S. Marines learn how to react to "improvised explosive devices" and armed Iraqi insurgents trying to blend in with their neighbors. Iraqi- American actors spoke Arabic and played the role of villagers and insurgents.
The Marines are based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. They are training for their next mission and will likely deploy this Spring.
