Just in time for your heavy-lifting holiday shopping, the military exchanges have agreed to accept each other’s gift cards.

As of Nov. 6, shoppers will be able to redeem their Navy exchange gift cards, Marine Corps exchange gift cards, and Army and Air Force Exchange Service gift cards at any military exchange store, regardless of the store’s service affiliation, officials of the three exchange services said in a joint announcement Thursday.

Exchange gift cards can be bought in increments up to $500 at military exchange stores worldwide. Any authorized exchange shopper can also buy them online at www.aafes.com or www.navy-nex.com. Marine Corps exchange gift cards are not available online.

“The exchange gift card just got much better,” Rear Adm. Robert Bianchi, NEXCOM commander, said in the joint announcement. “With joint operations and joint basing increasingly common, our service members need to be able to use gift cards at any military exchange available to them. Now, exchange gift cards are as mobile as our service members.”
