Charles Leslie Merritt, 4th Marines World War II

looking for someone who remembers my uncle, Charles Leslie Merritt.
Trained in California, landed on Inamur(sp?), Saipan (turned 18 there), Tinian. Wounded in leg sent back to states, missed Iwo Jima, made it back for Okinawa. said he helped guard the planes that dropped the bombs.
He lived in California until his death in 2002.

You have good genes. Your uncle helped to shape an important part of Marine Corps history and tradition, while saving the free world. The world needs more heros who are willing to sacrifice all for those of us left behind.
