Alright I have something to say. I dont really post here much but Im always on here. About a week ago I decided it was time. I have given it much thought and decided it was time to join the DEP. So I talked to my recruiter and got everything I needed to join. He had to submit something for my shoulder because I had surgery on it. It was supposed to come in Monday and he was gonna call when it did. I call him and he says he hasnt heard anything yet and tommorow he will give them a little while untill he lights a fire under their ass. Well here it is after 5 pm Tuesday and still havent heard anything from him yet. This is weird because he calls all the time. Im sure these things take time but its kind of weird he hasnt contacted me just to say it hasnt come yet because, like I said he calls quite often. Has anybody ever had anything like this happen. I know I probably shouldnt even worry about this.

Disregard that last post just talked to the recruiter and still waiting. I cant even imagine the anticipation for waiting for boot camp, Im restless just for the damn med report. Just wanna say this is the most motivating site I think Ive ever been to thanks all.
Be prepared to not talk to your recruiter as much now that you are in the DEP. IDK if its true for all of them, but I only talk with mine once a week now for like 2 min to check in and then on Saturdays at the Pool Functions. Maybe yours is different though.

I'm totally different. I see my recruiters everyday if I can afford the gas money.
I would love too, they are the coolest guys I know, but they are (or seem to be) extremely busy too, and I hate feeling like I'm in the way.

Trust me, a recruiter would like nothing more than for you to be there. It's a good enviroment, I'm always helping, either doing simple paper filing, to making phone calls or doing errands (Food, Gas, supply) runs.
Also, what all my recruiters talk about would be filthy and dirty to any average person, but it amazes me on how the morale keeps up for those guys. Everymorning, they talk about ways to get out of recruiting duty.
You also pick a few things. I never knew how another Marine would insult another Marine, but I learned.
"Hold on SSgt!!! Did you just DEVIL DOG me?!?"
Gawd fun times at the office.

You poolees are getting too into it. About half of you are going to lose interest in boot camp. We all go in scared and bright-eyed. Then you realize this ain't right for you or you just can't put up with all the bullsh*t and you rebel. It's just funny to see you guys do this because I was the exact same way. Boot camp turned everything around.

Lose interest in boot camp? How exactly does that work- because I cannot imagine it even being possible. It isn't like you have a choice on whether or not you do what you're told to do.
Zackmerc how do you rebel in bootcamp? You must have been Mike Co. I hope you weren't in that garbage platoon that had that incident with 1008 Alpha at the chow hall.
Ya that sums up "Mighty Mike" undisiplined recruits that didn't care about representing there platoon and company. I garantee that stuff would not fly in my platoon or the rest of alpha co.

I try to see my recruiters whenever possible, I went out there one saturday, just to hang out before I went up north.
Its amazing how much the screw around with each other when they arent busy.
and its funny how they are contemplating ways to get outta recruiting duty

Devil Dog isn't always insulting- it does depend on the context. However, most times if it is directed at you, things aren't going well for you.

To be the best Marine I possibly can be.
And to Make it through Recon Indoc and BRC

Whats up guys, this is my first post here @ leatherneck/forums and its good to see there is a community out there for poolees. First i want to thank google for helping me find this site. Now I have a question concerning MECEP. MECEP seems to be the best opportunity as a Marine because you get to go to school while in active duty and gain Officer rank and a pay raise, but why isnt it so popular amonst Marines? There must be drawbacks. Can someone please tell the pros and cons from an experienced point of view

MECEP... Can someone please tell the pros and cons from an experienced point of view
Pros: You get to earn a commission after graduation.
Cons: You have to earn a commision after graduation or you lose 4 years of your life doing something that will look very bad on your record (if you fail).
Not everyone wants to be an Officer. Just as not everyone can be a Marine, not everyone can be a Marine Officer. And not everyone wants to be a Marine Officer (including MANY talented, capable enlisted members who could do it if they wanted to).
MECEP is a program for those who want it. Pure and simple. If you don't want the result, it's not the program for you. Also, competition is fairly high. Don't expect to walk in and get it.

Well, the worst recruits that lost interest were the ones that were sent home or dropped to another company. ONe refused to train and even talk back to the series commander. He was sent back home on the spot. We had one idiot lose his mind and punch himself in the face. He broke his nose and when they checked his files at medical, they found he was unqualified for service and got sent to the brig for fraud enlistment. We had another kid fall asleep in the PX warehouse during team week and our company went crazy searching for him. Yeah, Mike company is special but I wouldn't say it is the most undisciplined. We just had the worst in it because MIke company even takes recruits that fail the IST. Our Drill Instructors slayed those fat bodies.
Yes, I think our platoon, 3267, got in a scuffle with some Alpha boys outside the chow hall. We were in prac week and you guys were in team week. Yeah, our platoon was heinous. We had about ten fatbodies and one of them was still over the weight limit but graduated. He was the most distgusting recruit I've ever seen.

Yea. recruiters defiantly do take it easy and mess around with each other other. My SSgt. loves to kick back and play the xbox. that or we all go get some chow at a resturaunt and are always the loud obnoxious ones your mother told you about. And how would hanging around with your recruiter make you lose interest?? It gets me more into it. I love sitting around hearing stories. And i love how everyone is dissing on Mike Co. My best friend graduated 3rd bt. 3085 Mike Co. and they were damn good. And i think they are too gentle on some recruits. A fatbody still overweight. shouldnt have graduated. Unless he was built like a rock. but i dont know. i dont get the say in this kinda of thing

Hey Nancy, good to see you again. One thing, when writing stuff on the internet, one should not use all capital letters as that means a person is screaming or yelling what they have written, just so you know in the future ;).

Hello all! I'm new here but thought I would get in on the posting.
I want to join the Marines for a couple of reasons. Most importantly I want to serve my country and do my part to ensure that my future children and grandchildren will still have the choice to live in a country that gives them all the opportunities I have had.
My other reasons are a little more selfish. I want instilled in me what no other organization but the United States Marine Corp can instill. I want the motivation, pride, sense of loyalty, and most of all the drive that comes along with that Eagle, Globe, and Anchor. Drive is something that I used to have an abundance of but, as of recently, have been lacking. That is until I decided I wanted to be a Marine.
I talked to a recruiter on Monday and have been doing my best to change my life (mainly with diet and exercise) so that I will be given the chance to sign my name on the dotted line. So far I have lost 2 to 3 pounds and am feeling much better about myself. Already I am getting back some of that drive and pride and it has only been a week! I cannot even begin to imagine the transformation that you guys and gals have gone through in your 13 weeks of boot camp and I can only hope that I will have that same transformation in the months coming.

After these past couple of days, I've lost all motivation right now. I get tired of talking about boot camp without getting sick to my damn stomach.
I almost got into a fight with a Marine reservist today, because I said being a cook was nothing too special. Then he called me a b**** and a n****r and then I really got ****ed, then my SSgt. pulled me over and said I was wrong.
So i acknowledged tried to apologize to him and then I left.

I read this part to my Mom and she got a good laugh. It wasn't right what he called you but I'm glad you took the high road and apologized.
If it helps, I'm starting to have dreams about Boot Camp and I have two months to go.
