Last night Sgt. Quinn and I made a bet on whether you would get a question or mine right or wrong. So please give an answer and everyone else wait until he has answered.
Who signed the Act to create the Modern Marines and on what date?

That would be 11 July 1798 that President John Adams signed the bill into law creating the now United States Marine Corps.:flag:

Doofus, wasn't much of a challenge - he could have googled it for all you know. ;)
Which leads to my question... Is the landing at Nassau, Bahamas considered the first Marine landing? I thought it was, but someone told me the Continental Marines aren't really the same thing as the modern USMC, and therefore that landing isn't considered the first Marine Corps landing. Someone care to enlighten me on the subject?

Well the answer would not be Nassau...let's try New Providence. I don't know why I am going back and correcting knowledge in old threads, but I therefore needed to clear that up. First Amphibious Landing = New Providence, Bahamas.
