Oct 22, 2007 12:19 PM
WILMINGTON -- Local Marines will now have to commute to Jacksonville because the reserve base in Wilmington is closing.
More than a 100 reservists are assigned to the Burnett Boulevard base and starting this winter, they'll be moved to Jacksonville.
The facility has been in operation since 1984.
Reservists visit the center once a month for vital training.
The base says 85 percent of the Marines in the Wilmington unit have been deployed to Iraq within the past four years.
