Until about 25 years ago this small central Oregon community was sparsely populated with blue collar people who wore dirt under their finger nails. Along with the town of Bend, central Oregon's hub for ranching/agriculture, logging and mining.

Transient bums, hippy's, mealy mouths, basically anybody not willing to work but comment on the lifestyle of those who did, found no comfort in central Oregon. If it was a fight they were looking for, it could be arranged lickety split.

Years earlier present day Redmond was the western perimeter and near the heart of the Ochocco stronghold of the Western Shoshone (Snake) war tribes. The Oregon trail immigration routes skirted and avoided central Oregon__The most natural course__for this very reason, an ass whuppin from the Paviotso Confederacy's Dog Soldiers was inevitable. The longest continuous war between U.S. troops and Natives that few know about.

The burgs of central Oregon have seen a new wave of immigrants from I-5 and have the texture of Los Angeles suburbs complete with their rules and trends but the country is vast and along way from the bay area, not yet completely Californicated. Still not a good place to be caught on the other side of the U.S. flag with a Bic.
