ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. — Robert L. Molloy, 82, former Escanaba resident, of Rolling Meadows, Ill. , passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at his home in Rolling Meadows, Ill., with his family by his side.
He was born May 13, 1925, in Escanaba and was the son of Charles and Anna (Lehey) Molloy. Robert graduated from Escanaba High School in 1942.
He then served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II until he was honorably discharged.
He married the former Amelia Swed on June 30, 1949, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Escanaba.
Robert was employed by the Jewel Tea Company for 45 years, first in Escanaba and later transferring to Barrington, Ill., until he retired in 1987. He was a member of the American Legion and a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Molloy is survived by: his wife, Amelia of Rolling Meadows, Ill.; daughters, Roberta Knuth of Rolling Meadows, Ill., Esther (Leonard) Sauls of Jacksonville, Fla.; three grandchildren, Teri Springfield, Charles LaFave and Jim Knuth; two great-grandchildren, Julia and Stephen Jr. Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Delta County Veteran’s services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Anderson Funeral Home. Liturgical Prayers will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church with Father Stebber officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral mass in the St. Anne’s Catholic Church fellowship hall.
Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
