vmf(aw)542 1960-1963

Hello Marines...

Looking for ANYONE that served in VMF(aw)542, THE PEPSI-COLA Squadron 1960 - 1963 tour, flying the F4D SKYRAY.

I have located almost 90% of the old gang....missing only about 20 Marines.

I was also in 542 during that time. ElToro, Atsugi, Cubi Point, Ping Tung. Don't remember you. Must have ran in different circles. 1st Sgt. was Bowes, I worked for GySgt. Diaz. I was a Sgt at the time.

I was in VMF(AW)-115 during that time frame. If they had sent me to 542 and El Toro I would still be in <grin>. We deployed to Guantanamo in November, 1962, and since we were not up to combat readiness, we got supplemented with five pilots that had just completed an overseas tour. Wendell Rohn, C.V.V. Smiley and three more. I think they came from 542, anybody recognize the names?
