I have been searching unsuccessfully for the recruiting commercial that came out around 1994. You know the one... it had the shining knight on the chessboard. If anyone knows where a copy is located, or where to look, please let me know.

I contacted the J. Walter Thompson Ad Agency in Atlanta, I'm waiting for a responce. They handle all the commercials. If I get back useful intel, I'll post it for you and anyone else that might want it. Pete

Please contact me.

There are a few legal issues to discuss concerning the use of materials and I need other information concerning your intended use.

The older commercials are not available online for security and licensing reasons. Likewise, if they were, the Corps would be paying talent fees an other associated costs.

Here is are some factoids about that commercial:
The knight is an actual Marine, not an actor.
The only Chess pieces not slain by the Knight are the Bishop (religious symbol), the Queen (a female character) and the Rook (a castle). The King bows his head in defeat, and is not killed (all of these facts symbolized honor in battle)
Commercial was shot in California desert.
The chanting in the background is the 14 leadership traits in Latin (talk about a subliminal message)

The whole strategy of the commercial was to project Marines as "Smart, Tough, Elite Warriors". The game of Chess represented the "Smart" component of the strategy.

Greate information, but does anyone know where I can find that music? It's for personal listening and nothing more.

Thanx

Sorry about bumping an old thread, but it's either this or creating a brand new one on the same subject. Anyway...

I'm also interested in acquiring this commercial. If anyone could help me out I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

You can also contact BBD&O, the advertising agency in Manhattan which does all the Corps commercials. THe ad agencies usually keep a full librabry of their long-term client ads

Well, it's been a while, but as an update I've tried contacting different people about this commercial and in most case usually haven't even hear back. Needless to say, I still have not been able to find the video for download anywhere.

Does anyone have this video or know of a definate source where I can download it?

Wow. Great knowledge from six guns.

I would imagine that someone has them on YouTube somewhere. Now I want to see it.

I saw that one as well. I don't remember that one as well but I definitely remember the one fighting the lava monster. So much better than the lame ones they have now.

I mean come on whats better than slaying a lava monster?
