Marines Make Way For Christmas

Jolly Ole Saint Nick prefers red, but some of his helpers don dress blues. A group of Peoria based Marines manned a table at Northwoods Mall Saturday afternoon collecting gifts for Toys for Tots.
The goodies will go to good girls and boys in Tazewell, Fulton, McLean and Woodford Counties. Some marines say this is their way of trying to make sure every child receives at least one present for the holidays.
"We believe every child needs a toy and deserves a Christmas and this is something good we give back to the community for supporting us being out in this war even more," Sgt. Chris Bedgood says.
Sergeant Bedgood says last year they collected more than 130-thousand toys that were given out to about 22-thousand kids in the area.
