View Full Version : Yet another MCT question...

Ok I feel kind of stupid asking this since I'm a Marine, but I haven't been to MCT or MOS school yet, so I don't really know how it works. I've tried to search the forums, but I can't find an answer to my question.
See, my boyfriend is currently at MCT and he hasn't been able to contact me yet. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me if/when I should expect to hear from him (do they ever get to make phonecalls?). Also, is there usually a delay between MCT and the start of MOS school? I'm just trying to figure out how long I have to wait to see him/hear from him. Thanks for your help, Marines.
If he's on the East coast he'll get to call you on Sundays for about 5 minutes, or if someone smuggled a cell phone in ( and I promise you, there's plenty of em ) he'll call you late one night.
If he's on the West coast he'll probably call you from a internet cafe or something out in town.

I don't know how MCT works now- but when he gets to MOS school he should be able to contact you without problem. Even if there is a delay, the atmosphere will be more relaxed than it is now.

Welcome Home fourfinger. If you'll post this in the Looking for a Leatherneck (http://www.leatherneck.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=10)forum, you'll probably have better luck.

Well, you all were right. I just got a call from my boyfriend from an unknown cell phone number and he told me that someone smuggled their phone in and it was the first chance he got to talk to me. Then after a couple of minutes he's like "Oh ****, the instructors are coming around, I have to go". So, he'll call me tomorrow on their liberty. All is well.
Don't count on it, who's your bf? What company? I may know him.
MCT is at Camp Devil DOg, which is actually pretty impressive, they don't get any liberty at all at MCT, except the week they graduate when they go back in garrison.

When I was at MCT, the only time we got to call was liberty Sunday. Thats two days before graduation. Our platoon didnt smuggle phones, but I herd the other platoons did and hid it in their MRE packets and inside their camelpaks.

Yes, you can bring your cell phone, but you'll probably only be able to use it on that libo day. MCT is more relaxed than boot, but don't worry, you'll still be treated like an idiot.

The nice NCOs at MCT will explain it all to you, don't worry too much. You'll know when you get liberty without even thinking about it.

You won't need a cell phone at west coast MCT. From what I've been told from WC Marines there will be a bus that comes to take you into town on the weekends. You can just use the phone at the mall or pizza hut or the local carnival.

Well, for anyone who cares, my boyfriend is finally at MOS school. He just got his cell phone today, so now I can talk to him everyday. Luckily, he only has to wait a week before his classes pick up (that's not too bad). Now I just have to keep busy for 4 months...

4 months isn't bad- it will give you time to concentrate on school and staying ready for your own MCT so you have more time to spend with him when he gets back. Maybe he'll be able to make it home during the holiday season.
