Marine killed in training accident identified

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Marine Corps officials have released the name of a Norfolk, Va.-based leatherneck killed in a training accident last week.
Lance Cpl. Jeffrey S. Webb, 21, of Wake County, N.C., died Friday from injuries he sustained in a vehicle accident during a training exercise at Fort A.P. Hill, Va., according to a II Marine Expeditionary Force press release.
The accident is under investigation.
Webb died after a Humvee overturned about 9 a.m. during training, according to an Associated Press report. Four other Marines in Webb’s unit, 1st Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team Company, were injured. They have been treated and released.
Webb trained as an infantryman after he joined the Corps on May 30, 2006. In February, he joined 1st FAST Company.
