Marine on TV show?

I was watching an old episode of the T.V. show so you think you can dance. they had a guy that said he was a squad leader in boot camp but got hurt during training and was medicaly discharged. He was wearing an USMC shirt. What do you all feel about him claiming the title if he never fiished boot camp? Is he a Marine or still just another recruit that did not finish? I feel that yes, he is a Vet since he was injured and did not complete boot because of injury and was discharged. But honestly a Marine?... I knew a few guys that did not finish boot camp and have nevere claimed the title. I was just checking to see what you all felt. It just bothers me when people who never earned the title claim to be Marines. Hell, I took my bumps and bruises and earning the title means more to mean than anything I have ever done since. ANYTHING.

You must've misheard/misunderstood He completed bootcamp and earned the title. He was a squad leader at SOI. He was training to be an infantryman.

I remember having watched that episode vividly. He certainly wasn't too bad, but def. not good enough =p
