Did Orem man desert Marines?
Published: September 20, 2007
OREM — A 20-year-old Orem man is in U.S. Marine custody after allegedly deserting from military service.
Orem police recently received a call from the Marines about the alleged deserter and were asked to look for him, said Orem Police Lt. Doug Edwards.
When officers visited a home where the man had been living on Hidden Hollow Drive, he was there and they took him into custody without incident, Edwards said.
The man told them he left the Marines because he didn't think the military was taking care of his medical needs.
He was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail Monday night on a nationwide desertion warrant, Edwards said. The Marine military police picked up the man Wednesday morning.
