Hello everyone.

My name is Dylan and I have been following these threads for a while now. I ask if my profile is not correct please let me know and I will fix it. I do have a few questions out there for past and current Marines.

-5800 Military Police. This is the MOS I would like to enter as. I haven't been able to find much information on this MOS, if anyone has links to additonal information it would be much appreicated.

-MCMAP I am a 2nd degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, I was also an Instructor in Taekwondo. Would this help me in getting to an Instructor position in the MCMAP?

I plan on shipping in Feb. and there is no giving up, I will get the EGA.

Search the forums, 5800 has been discussed a lot.

Walk before you can run. Regardless of your civilian belt, you won't be able to instruct Marines until you've got some time under your belt. By virtue, NCO's are all instructors of one sort or another.

There are ranks associated with the belts- and MCMAP isn't Taekwondo. You have a lot of learning to do before you're ready to teach anyone any thing. But, if you become a Sgt. it is something that could be in your future.

You're Taekwondo expierence has absolutly no bearing on MCMAP. In order to be a MCMAP instructor you have to be at least a Corporal, and I don't think that can be waived. Which means that you have to have a few years under your belt. Also, you will need to get permission to go to the course from your chain of command, which, depending on your job, can be anywhere from as easy as a simple question to next to impossible.
