Does your boot leave get charged against your leave account? My MOS school is really long and they get off for a winter break for 10 training days or 17-19 calander days.

Do you think I would just get all those days off or would my time back home be charged on the account?

Your boot leave is charged. It takes a while to go through. For instance, I graduated bootcamp 5 months ago but I wasn't charged for the time until last Thursday.

You have to wait until you file your travel claim when you get to your 1st duty station. You're leave will be caught up on the next U/E after you check in.

You need to talk to your NCOIC and ask specifically about the winter break. Just because your school is on break doesn't automatically mean you're free from duty. You may have extended liberty and all liberty rules apply (distance limitation, curfew, etc.). You may also have to pull duty. Only by specifically going on leave will you be able to travel home.

Remember, MOS School is different from the fleet so go ask your NCOIC.

As for boot leave, yes it is ultimately charged to you. However, one of our younger bros stated that there was a policy change and it may not apply against your leave balance anymore.

Yes, your boot leave gets charged against your leave account; however, you wont see it taken away until you are done with the accession pipline (boot camp, mct, ect.) and do your travel claim at your first duty station.

Also, just throwing it out there, because I see it all the time, if you went on recruiters assistance right after bootcamp make sure you have the orders from the recruiter saying when you got there and when you left, or those days will also get charged to your leave account...

As far as getting those days off, the school *shouldn't* just let you all go, as the MCO about leave and liberty doesn't allow for Marines to be gone for more than 4 days without it being charged to your leave account. (MCO P1050.3H paragraph 3001.6) Hope that answers your questions.

If you're wanting to be home during the break and not take leave, your best bet would be to talk to your recruiter about getting recruiter's assistance.
