Madison Marine Unit Prepares For Iraq Deployment
Marines Will Train In California

MADISON, Wis. -- A Madison-based Marine unit is preparing for deployment in Iraq for a second time.
The 200 reservists of the 24th Marines Golf Company finalized paperwork and health checks Friday as they prepared to travel to California for training.
Most of the Marines are from Wisconsin and others are from surrounding states. This tour of duty will be the second for many, WISC-TV reported.
"The first time everybody was pretty nervous. From this company there weren't too many Marines that had been there before. Nobody knew what to expect. We know what to expect now," said Lance Cpl. Jonathan Wehner, of Watertown.
The Marines will spend three months training in California before they are deployed.
The Marines are off duty for the weekend so they can spend it with family and friends. They are scheduled to fly out of Madison on Monday, WISC-TV reported.
