"Support The Troops" Rally on Saturday in Vancouver WA
Vancouver Mayor Royce Pollard will be the keynote guest speaker, as the Portland-Vancouver community gathers on Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 12:00 Noon on the steps of the Clark County Courthouse, for a "Support The Troops" rally. Mayor Pollard will also introduce Major General Jon R. Root, Commander of the 104th Institutional Training Division, US Army Reserve, stationed at Fort Vancouver Barracks, in Vancouver WA. Everyone is welcome to attend this free, one-hour, major event. This event is non-partisan, and non-political.
Event co-organizer Nancy Dorr of Portland has arranged for parents of US military members, currently serving in the Persian Gulf region, to be there as guest speakers also. They are:
---Chris Low, mother of Lt. Kent H. Harrison, US Navy
---Margie Amspacher, mother of Petty Officer Michael T. Piechowski, US Navy
---Elizabeth Johnston, mother of LCpl Joseph C. Paul, US Marine Corps
(also founder of Mothers of Military Support: MOMS)
---Tim Babbitt, father of Cpl Justin Babbitt, US Marine Corps
(also founder of Enduring Support Association)
---Dennis R. Hooyman, member of Oregon Veterans Association
Delivering the invocation will be Rev. John Wright of New Heights Church in Vancouver WA. The Clark County Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will provide a color guard, as well as the American Legion Cape Horn (Skamania County WA) chapter.
Event co-organizers are Nancy Dorr of Portland OR; Roy Rhine of Vancouver WA; and Ron Rasmussen Jr of Vancouver WA. Please spread the word to everyone you know!
