Going to MEPS

I'm leaving for MEPS on Fri. 21, 2007 so that next Friday. I made weight I've lost 45 pounds to join so lets hope I can get in. I have to get a medical waiver for my knee because I torn my ACL in 2003 it shouldnt be to hard since its a common surgury. And since I was cleared by MEPS to take the physical my recruiter said I should be good to go. They could of said no way theres not a chance at least thats what my recruiter said. Anyway wish me luck I hope to become a combat engineer.

Hey, good luck and welcome to the forums. MEPS isent that bad. Its just a long day thats all. Get a good nights sleep before and dont skip breakfest in the morning. Let us know how it goes.

yes deffinallty get a nights sleep you will need it.. it was one of the longest days ive ever had in my life. i was up till 3 and only got a hour and a half of sleep.. that wasnt good.. and I didnt eat that much chow in the Morning. make sure you do because you will starve.. also dink a **** load of water so you can take the pis test and not have to wait 2 extra hours because you cant go.

When you go down for chow in the Morning at the hotel, eat more than you normally would. And dont mouth off to the people at MEPS.

Its a bunch of Civilians that are slower than the Airforce. Just deal with them

**** Civlian workers at MEPS. SOB were the reason I was at MEPS for three days straight. It is agonizing, its alot of Hurry up and Wait. Just drink a **** load of water, make sure your urine is clear just by drinking a truck load of water three days prior and you should be fine. Also don't tell the doc nothing you haven't told your recruiter. Alot of people fess up about small things and they get held up for weeks.

I leave for MEPS now 2 days how do things go at first. On friday I'm only taking the ASVAB because I'm getting down there later in the day. I start the processing on Saturday morning, anyway do I get weighed first thing because I'm pretty close to the max weight. I was just wondering because I really dont want to eat anything till after weigh in, but if weigh-in is last I'll have to eat something or ill pass out when they draw my blood.

I weighed in at the end after vision, hearing, urine, picture, and blood. It was with duck walks and all those body inspections. But that was San Diego, I don't know if it is same for your location. You need to eat breakfast no matter what, and I believe lunch was after everything, so you'll be fine.

MEPS is just lots of hurring up to get to the next test after one then waiting for a long time. They won't let you fall asleep so sleep early at hotel. I slept right at the curfew, so I slept good amount. I drank whole bunch of water the night before so I didn't have to wait few extra hours to just take a urine test.

In the end, as long as you get to swear in that day, it's all worth it.
I had to stay extra day just because I had to take another vision test outside the MEPS, that sucked. I was so close to finishing processing, but Medical closed up when I came back from optometrist lol. I had to let my two friends go home and I was left behind lol.
The next day I got done so early I had to wait so many hours doing nothing to catch plane home...

also, dont answer your cell phone. i made this mistake thinking a call from my recruiter was important and had to answer. actually just shut it off, dont even worry about putting it on vibrate

You had cell phone with you? In San Diego They searched everyone and made them put electronics in the bag and lock them up. I had to collect call home twice since I had to stay another night, and when my dad got the phone bill a little after, he froze... LOL
