Poolee function was motivating today. Did the O-Course (Obstacle Course), at Ft. Benning again.

Did this in January of this year and I was flunked out, couldn't do most of the things and I wasn't allowed on the slide for life or ladder to heaven.

Well now it's September and all the PT worked off. Finished 3rd, ran the course in less than 7 mins. Moved alot faster and didn't get tired. All the climbing up and the Slide for Life was challenging but I wanted it, and I got through it. It seems hard just by looking at it, but once I got up there and did it, I got easy afterwards.

I finally signed my MOS Contract. UH - 0300 Open Infantry. My shipdate- if official. 20071209. I'm quite happy with it now, gives me more time to prepare for the bitter cold, and I have ordered a package that will cure my Asthmaitic and allergy symptoms that I still have.

Enough about me. Poolees, what was your Pool Function like?

p.s. Your recrutiers should have the new posters that just came out. I got about 5 new ones.

Our last function wasn't really official. The recruiters decided to try recruiting out at Walden Pond (Concord, MA, famous historical site). We basically swam. SSgt asked us if we were willing to try swimming accross (Half Mile). All but one said yes (only 5 of us showed up anyway, and only one had DEPped in). I figured what the heck and gave it a shot. Although me and one other kid trailed a good 3-4 minutes behind the SSgt I figured hell I just swam a half mile having not been in a pool for 3 years, so I was happy.

5 new posters? My room already looks like a reruiting station. I have the "For Honor, For Courage, For Country," "Protectors, Liberators, Warriors," "Still Ready," and the MCMAP one. What are these new ones like?

Our pool function this week will be at Angel Island near San Francisco. A lot of going up hill, and MREs are once again on the menu. (Yum) Last month, when I wasn't DEPd in but had been invited to come, we all went paintballing outdoors. It was actually somewhat of a grueling experince because the terrain was uneven and you either had to assault or defend a hill which sort of put into perspective how much courage it takes to attack one. At first us poolees just froze up behind cover unable to move up, but eventually we were able to work out fire and manuver tactics with the recruiters and we managed to show the guys who do paintball on a regular occasion how its done.

And what is this about posters? I've been DEPd in for 4 weeks and I don't know anything about any posters. (Besides, at our office, if you want to get some gear, you've got to earn it by doing 100 sit ups, most pull ups, etc. on a certain day. They don't just hand lanyards, hats, or t-shirts to you.) My wall is looking a little bare right now.

Poolee Function today started at 0800. Ran the IST, then we went to the field of a nearby school. All of the Poolees split up We summed it up with a tug of war competition against all the recruiters, who won by the way.

Also, the CO of our RS, RS Portsmouth was there and aparently he is the son of the current Commandant of the Marine Corps, wich I thought was kind of cool. And I finally signed my job contract, 0300 Infantry.

PS. And yes I did get a bunch of new posters, and some book covers too!:yes::no:

New posters? We got to use red Marine pens on a test but then we had to give them back. Today was my first function and I admit I was nervous but once we started I forgot all about that. We did the IST and everything went fine except for my arm hang. I was on the bar wrong and could barely hold on. We took our test on general orders and ranks. I signed my SOU today as well and I am 26xx until they hopefully find a 06xx MOS.

I am now working on doing dips, pushups and bicep curls to increase my upper body strength and starting sprint training this week.

You go boy! Just be careful with your weight around Thanksgiving - by then though, you'll probably be so nervous you won't be able to eat anyway - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

On our function, the recruiter took us to a mission (church) where there are dirt trails, and we'de d oan indian run with a poster that couldn't touch the ground and if he said drop, the person holding the poster hands it to the next and does 15 pushups.
Then at random he would stop us all and IT like crazy and we are really crawling going form pushups to mountainclimbers, and mountclimbers to running in place and stuff. It is a great workout and it helps to see what being IT'd is like.

Yesterday at my pool function we went to Selfridge ANG base to weapons training.

We go to break down M16-A2's an M-249 and a couple of pistols. They even had an AT-4 Rocket launcher out.

Then after a Hearty meal of MRE's we did our PT. We had to do pullups till failure (I got around 25), then up hill crunches for two minutes.

Tell ya what, MRE's RIGHT before a workout=not good :(

good times though. On top of that PT I got punished for not properly addressing a SSgt. and found out what a pyramid workout is:banana:

Wow I haven't been here since school started. Well, yesterday my RS just did IST. 2 weeks from now we are going to rock climbing, so I am looking forward to that. Lol, I also got some posters yesterday, I think... though... they are old left-over ones... LOL
