Now I am back; I am a Marine now and no longer a recruit. Platoon 1025 dismissed was the greatest moment in a while. It was especially good on my way back to the squadbay to pick up all my gear when a third phase recruit told me "Good morning Sir" But driving out of the base and into the civilian world, I now have an even better appreciation for all my Drill Instructors did for me.

You knwo what's even BETTER? A year or so later, when all of the initial (not TOTAL) excitement of becoming a Marine is over -- when you go to a restaurant or some place and a 30 year old plus man greets you in as, "Sir," even though it's obvious you're about 19 but he's smart enough to know a Marine when he sees one. That's even better than a 3rd phase recruit. =p

Freakin' congrats, Devil

Nice, congratulations Marine. I was in 1026. The greatest moment for me was shaking my Junior Drill Instructor's hand and him telling me good job during the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor ceremony. I wasn't the best recruit, and our platoon overall had a hard time, it didn't matter though at the end. We were all still United States Marines. It feels good, but I feel strange; I don't think I've quite settled yet. I'll see how I feel tommorrow...

Good Night and Semper Fi.

Thanks,
I was really shocked the first time I addressed two drill instructors on visitors Thursday and they not only returned the greeting but shook my hand and congradulated me. When our liberty was secured on Thursday our kill hat informed us that he was still a sir but the Senior and the Jay hat reminded us they were no longer sirs and we were just confused but we no longer cared. I am stoked right now probably because its an hour past lights and I have caffine in me.
I noticed you were first Bn during recruit training. Well as a Company, B took the regimental record for prac and final drill. Though I doubt you care because you've been out of boot camp for a year. Well 1st Bn has the top 4 records for final drill.

Was that Drill Instructor Sgt Hanley or Drill Instructor SSgt Cardenas sorry if I misspelled them they weren't my Drill Instructors. Well I was in 25 and somehow Drill Instructor SSgt Cardenas knew me since T-10.

Congratulations Marine. Caffiene is great. Much better than what those monkey-headed pukes back at your high school are doing now.

Yeah, I really couldn't sleep in. I am not at my house yet. I tried calling my sister and its two hours later over there and she still complained that she was tired. I get on a plane in a little bit.

Congratulations Marines! Welcome to the Brotherhood.

"gonnabeinnbc" I was a 5711 from '89-'92 and I still have some friends in that field, although most of them are Warrant Officers. If you want PM me and I'll give you as much info as I can. Remember though it's been a long time and I know they even changed the place of the MOS School but I have a feeling most of the daily job duties in the Fleet are still the same.
