Matt Shortway
Lance Cpl. Matt Shortway is a Marine serving in the Al Anbar province, Iraq. Matt‘s MOS is a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense Specialist or CBRN. His duties include training Marines and implementing protective measures taken against CBRN agents.
Matt is a graduate of Clarkson University and Vernon High School.
Matt married his college sweetheart, Lindsay Robb, before he deployed in March 2007.
His parents Harry and Cherie Shortway of Sussex say that,
“To say the least it is a stressful time that has been eased by acts of kindness by the generosity aof neighbors and friends,” said his parents Harry and Cherie Shortway of Sussex. On Mother’s Day, for example, Highland Lakes Florist sent flowers to Cherie Shortway. The lacrosse community in Jefferson sent Matt and his fellow Marines 700 pounds of supplies and Jason Koontz, a Jefferson alumni and lacrosse player, made a wedding video for Matt and Lindsay, which was sent to him. “The list goes on and on,” said Harry Shortway. “We are so appreciative for the support and generosity given to our family.”
