After seven months in Iraq, one local man will soon be receiving some rest and relaxation at home in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Born at Barton Memorial Hospital and attending South Shore schools until graduating from South Lake Tahoe High School in 2005, U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal Ryan Steiner will be flying into Reno-Tahoe International Airport on Southwest Flight 2382 on Friday at 9:50 p.m.

His mother, Debi Montgomery, is encouraging friends of Steiner to meet him at the airport to show support.

Steiner will likely be in the basin until early October and has three years of active service left in the Marines. He is also required to serve an additional three years of inactive service after his active service is complete.

The lance corporal is anticipating a second tour of duty in Iraq in May, according to Montgomery.
