Back in 1973 I just got stationed in Iwakuni Japan and waiting to join my squadron in Nam Phong Thailand, I was assigned flightline guard duty... well being an airdale... I had just got of my watch and this new PFC took over for the late night duty... I just got back to th guard shack when all of a sudden there was shotgun blasts going off all over... Well seems the next day on the base there was to be a ceremony and there was a cannon placed on the flightline, well a bunch of Marines that had taken to much saki in town had decided the cannon didnt look good where it was, well the PFC was walking on the flightline and then saw this cannon moving down the flightline... he yelled to stop but nobody did....lol next thing you know he was shooting in the air the shotgun... well this got the attention of the drunken Marines, they let the cannon roll down a benjo ditch then it flipped over... they took off running... the PFC was trying to catch them... whew it was a wild night... I am always grateful they didnt do the prank earlier...lol
