Post your favorite Marine Corps or Marine Corps related quotes here. The ones you find most motivating, inspiring, etc. I'm doing mine in no particular order.

"Marines die, that's what we're here for, but the Marine Corps lives forever and that means you live forever!" -GySgt. R. Lee Ermey (as Gy. Hartman)-

"Let's finish up the Nazis and head over to the Pacific before the Marines get all the credit!" -Patton I think-

"Remember, you are First Marines! Not all the communists in hell can overrun you!" -Chesty Puller-

"Saepius Exertus, Semper Fidelis, Frater Infinitas." -Don't know-

"The raising of that flag means a Marine Corps for another five hundred years." -Secretary of the Navy during WWII, forgot the name-

"The only safe place in Korea is behind a platoon of Marines." -GOA MacArthur-

"If anything should happen to me over there, don't mourn my death, honor it." -Anonymous Marine (well this applies to the whole US Military, but a Marine said it)-

"If the Army and the Navy ever look on heaven's scenes, they will find the streets are guarded by United States Marine." -Last part of the Hymn-

"Pain is the weakness leaving your body!" -A recruiting slogan-

"We don't promise you a rose garden." -Another recruiting slogan-

Why in hell can't the Army do it if the Marines can. They are the same kind of men; why can't they be like Marines.

There are two types of people, Marines, and those who wish they were Marines.

"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem."
-President Reagan-

"We're surrounded!" That simplifies the problem!
-Chesty Puller-

"We are surrounded, low on ammunition, and taking fire, we will hold!"
-Cant rember the name, and couldn't find it online either

"There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion."

"Sorry, thought you were the Army." -Insurgents in Somalia-

I have the utmost respect for the Army, but that was just funny. The terrorists attacked an embassy and when they saw the Marines on the roof, they apologized and left. This sounds like a legend though

"Old breed, new breed, what the hell does it matter as long as it's the Marine breed?" -Chesty Puller-

Probably so, I don't think the Marines would have let them walk away.

Its from a joke that goes....

Katie Couric, while interviewing a Marine sniper, asked:
"What do you feel when you shoot a terrorist?"

The Marine shrugged and replied: "Recoil."

"How can you shoot women and children?"
"They don't run as fast - you have to give them a little less lead."

The following was attributed to the commander of the Marines on Wake Island just prior to the capture of the island by the Japs;when asked what he needed he replied, "Send more Japs"

They told (us) to open up the Embassy, or "we'll blow you away." And then they looked up and saw the Marines on the roof with these really big guns, and they said in Somali, "Igaralli ahow," which means "Excuse me, I didn't mean it, my mistake".
Karen Aquilar, in the U.S. Embassy; Mogadishu, Somalia, 1991
We are United States Marines, and for two and a quarter centuries we have defined the standards of courage, esprit, and military prowess.
Gen. James L. Jones, USMC (CMC); 10 November 2000
Courage is endurance for one moment more…
Unknown Marine Second Lieutenant in Vietnam
A Marine should be sworn to the patient endurance of hardships, like the ancient knights; and it is not the least of these necessary hardships to have to serve with sailors.

The Marine Corps has just been called by the New York Times, 'The elite of this country.' I think it is the elite of the world

Ray, again, you must not have seen what that one dude posted...THE MARINES ARE NOT ELITE....come on dude.

I don't believe "Myth Busters". I wouldn't have joined the Marines if I didn't think they were elite. While at MEPS, all the Army Infantry boys said.

"Isn't Ft. Benning our Parris Island?"
Regarding as Ft. Benning being the toughest Basic Training base in the Army.

Even the boys going AF and Navy look up to the Marines. Hell I god mad respect for joining the Marines.

Elite doesn't mean the most highly trained, highly motivated, highly dedicated. Elite means the best!!!!

For example. The Michigan Wolverines (**** OSU), USC Trojans, Miami Hurricanes. They are powerhouses.

Are all of their players NFL bound? No, but as a whole they work as a team and they win. Hell the Offense chas to score points and defense has to stop the other team from scoring points, and everyone can't forget about Special Teams.
][/SIZE]I still need Marines who can shoot and salute. But I need Marines who can fix jet engines and man sophisticated radar sets, as well.
General Robert E. Cushman, Jr., USMC
Commandant of the Marine Corps, 17 May 1974

Sure not everyone can be Recon, not everyone can be Infantry, and not everyone is motivated as others, but I'll pick the Marine Corps, because they have won time and time again. Individually not every Marine is **** hot, but indivuals don't win at team sports, individuals don't take over cities, INDIVUALS DON'T WIN WARS.
Besides comparing all of the Marine Corps to what SEALs and Rangers do it like Apples and Organes. Different jobs, different mission. I would like to see Rangers or SEALs win a war by themselves.

But I can go on on and on why I know the Marine Corps is elite.

"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."

General Sir Charles Napier, CinC, India, circa 1835

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They never fit in. Even when they finally settle down, the settling is tenuous, for when they close their eyes they see their comrades who have fallen. That they cannot forget, that they do not forget, that they never allow themselves to heal completely, is their way of expressing their love for friends who have perished. And they will not change, because they have become what they have become to keep the fallen alive."

A Persian Cdr told the Spartans that they didn't want their lives, just their weapons, and they could go free.

"Molon Labe" was the response by King Leonidas:

Come and get them.

Today, the senior leadership of the U.S. armed forces in general and, the U.S. Army in particular, is overly bureaucratic, risk averse, professionally inadequate and, hence, unsuited to the complex military tasks entrusted to them.
Col Douglas MacGregor, US Army retired

You have no idea who those boys were. You have no idea what their motivation was for joining the military. Every man and woman over there knows what the dangers are. They know what they risk everyday. Their deaths don’t belong to you. By claiming moral outrage at their sacrifice you trivialize the lives they lived, the honor that they bought themselves. You sacrifice nothing.
Their service to their country is over. They belong to their families now.

Pawn Shop Clerk (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0588241/): These are brand new; we just got them in. That's a good gun. Just touch the trigger, the beam comes on and you put the red dot where you want the bullet to go. You can't miss. Anything else?
