The Marines of Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 24th Marines, in Gray, Tenn., in conjunction with Sonny’s Marina will be kicking off the 2007 Toys for Tots toy drive.

The Marines will be on hand at Sonny’s Marina Saturday, Sept. 1 through Monday, Sept. 3 from noon to 6 p.m. This is the fourth annual event hosted by Sonny’s Marina. This year it is also sponsored by Phil Bachman Toyota and Holston Distributing Co.

The sole purpose of the Toys for Tots program is to help put toys in the hands of economically disadvantaged children. We encourage you to attend and donate a brand new unwrapped toy or monetary donation and meet some of our local Marines who proudly serve this great nation.
Toys for Tots is the Marine Corps’s way of giving back to a nation which gives them so much in the way of their sons and daughters. Ideally, the Corps tries to give each child a brand new toy, as well as something for their stocking. Members of the community are encouraged to support the Toys for Tots campaign during their holiday shopping in the upcoming months. During the 2006 Holiday season, more than 26,000 toys were collected and distributed to more than 9,000 children. Our goal for this year is 30,000 toys and 9,500 children.

For more information please call Gunnery Sgt. Eric Baker at (423) 972-8395.
