Lejeune Marines return from Iraq
From Staff Reports

Camp Lejeune welcomed Marines and sailors home today from a seven-month deployment in Iraq.

Approximately 170 Marines and sailors returned at the 9 a.m. ceremony at the base. They are members of the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force.

During their time in Iraq, the Marines and sailors completed a number of operations. The Teufelhunden Battalion turned over its battle space west of Fallujah to the local Iraqi Security Forces, according to a news release. During the deployment, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines helped engaged the Albu Issa tribe, which aided in decreasing Al Qaeda's influence in the region.

The battalion also helped establish the Habbaniyah Police Academy.
