Survey seeks input on running suit design

Marines began weighing in Monday on the design of a new running suit slated to appear at the recruit depots in San Diego and Parris Island, S.C., by the end of this year, according to a Marine Corps Systems Command release.

A survey published on the command’s Web site “will gather a consensus from an aesthetic point of view,” project officer Portia Blunt said in the release. “The results will be used in conjunction with other weighted factors to determine the final selection design.”

The survey is available to all active-duty and Reserve Marines through Friday, according to the release.

An initial survey published in January sought input on what attributes Marines wanted to see in their new physical training gear. Information collected from approximately 30,000 respondents mandated that the running suit be black and green with the Corps’ emblem on the front and the word “Marines” on the back, SysCom program manager Dan Fitzgerald told Marine Corps Times earlier this month.

The new running suit will not replace any of the PT gear currently issued, but rather supplement what is already issued, he said.
