Marine’s death in Iraq investigated

The Marine Corps has launched an investigation into the death of Lance Cpl. Shawn V. Starkovich, with 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, who died Monday supporting combat operations in Iraq’s Anbar province, according to a Marine Corps press release.
Starkovich, 20, of Arlington Wash., was a field wireman deployed with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit since May. He was assigned to Battalion Landing Team 3/1 at Camp Pendleton, Calif.
He joined the Marine Corps on Feb. 22, 2005.
No other details were immediately available.
