CHARLOTTE -- Lieutenant Col. Darryl Barnes is leaving the Marines after a two-year tour of duty as inspector-instructor for the 4th Maintenance Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group in Charlotte.

Barnes said of his departure, “When you get out and see young Marines, 20-years old, 21-years old, whether they are in California or Omaha, or they are out in Fallujah, Iraq leading and doing the things they do, it makes you feel good inside, it makes you feel good to be part of that team.”

Lieutenant Col. Charles Sides will take over the position.
