THE WAR, no Bu****
By Roadkill 65

The War is just hours away.
And everyone has something to say.
We sit near the tube with open ears.
Not knowing next what we will hear.

There are Protesters on City streets
Voicing their pleas, for world peace.
And demonstrations in the parks
To show the troops, they are in our hearts.

THE WAR, which one is the WAR?
It’s the one our Government bore.
THE WAR is the one you survived
While brave countrymen, gave their lives.

THE WAR, It’s starting tonight.
Battle time is first light.
Planes will drop their heavy loads
And enemy targets will explode.

Ground troops, like scorpions, move forth
Across the sands headed North
Republican Guard is at the ready
Let’s pray their aim is not too steady.

The targets are picked for the first strike
Death will come to many tonight
And few will survive to see the light.
Ignorant of our Country’s Might.

Tomorrow will be the worst of days.
Finding our dead in the city maze.
Getting them out will be the goal
While snipers add to the toll.

The wounded, will be taken away
To a hospital ship, a large sickbay
Doctors and Corpsmen will work to save
The lives and limbs of the brave.

Chaplains will pray for the dead
Blessing their bodies and anointing their head
Sitting at bedside to comfort the brave.
Working for another soul to save.

The reporters will try to bring the news
Announce their findings and their views
Of the WAR around them or close by
Of massive damage from the sky.

Spouses and children watch at home
And feel the emptiness of being alone
Without their warrior by their side
To hold their hand and share their pride.

The President might have something to say
About the wrath dispensed that day.
Let's hope it will end as fast as it started
And limit the number of the departed.

Pray if you do, for those who fight
That they may live another night.
And if WAR should come to your door,
Fight it first and pray some more.

Ribbons will be hung on trees
Protesters will continue their pleas
Support of Troops will be shown
By those of us A WAR has known.

Freedom is not Free.
Neither is Liberty

This poem is dedicated to all of our men and women in Uniform.
