Is it true they send the reserves 1st?
ANd also, what is they highest Rank you can get, if you do 8 yrs of reserve duty.
Hey MMA, do they send the reserves first for what? For battle? For chow?
The highest rank you can get in 8 years is as high as YOU can get. I assume you're talking enlisted? Not sure if Marine reserves is like the Air National Guard, where rank is based on "slots". I retired as an E6, as there were not going to be any E7 slots open anytime soon, so I just said, f-it and retired.
In 8 years, however, one would think you should be a SSgt, or maybe even a GunnerySgt, if you have your head and @ss wired together.

You can still get to SSgt as a Reserve in 8 yrs? And can you still go to special schools. Like lest say I become an MP can I go to SRT?

I know you meant "battle" MMA, just messing with ya.
I was an Airwinger, so the MP SRT thing is like you speaking in a foreign tongue man.
As for rank, I was not in the Marine Reserves but I was in an acitve duty unit that trained reserves. Those guys got rank as they earned it.

Is it harder to earn the rank though? Since your not in base 24/7?
Dan, I honestly can't tell you. I know when I was in VMFA-321 there were Sgts and SSgts with 6, 7, 8 plus years. Just depended on the person I guess.
