OCEANSIDE, Calif. — A Marine who was injured during urban warfare training last week remained in stable condition Tuesday as the investigation into the incident was continuing, a Marine Corps spokesman said.

The Marine, whose name was not released, was recovering at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, Calif., said Capt. Neal V. Fisher II, a spokesman at the Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms.

The Marine had sustained a severe injury to the upper chest region while he was participating in Mojave Viper exercises around midday June 20, and he was evacuated by a Mercy Air helicopter.

Combat Center officials have not released details about the training accident, including the location, and were still looking into the circumstances of what happened.

“The investigation still isn’t completed yet,” Fisher said Tuesday afternoon. Training at the sprawling desert base had continued uninterrupted since the incident.
