Due to my RE code of 3, I have to deal with medical issues at the VA before I speak with a recruiter.
But I always like to plan ahead....

It depends on your desired MOS and stuff I believe. As well as everything else in order (MEPs, ASVAB, Physical Pre-reqs).
Back when I went to see my recruiter, I was scheduled to leave about 3 weeks later.
Not to mention if you get a recruiter who has already met his quota for the month, he may keep you 'in pocket' until the next month.

The maximum DEP length is one year so it could range from a month to twelve months. I noticed most of the older guys don't (or can't) go into the DEP and ship within two to three weeks or so.

Average? Probably a couple months. Although my old recruiter told me had had a poolee DEP'd up and shipped out in like 13 days or something. There are probably faster ones though.

We had one guy DEP in a week and ship out the next.

I decided to join and filled out the more info form online on monday,
talked to recruiter on phone tuesday,
went in to see recruiter and fill out paperwork wednesday,
wife and i filled out more paperwork friday,
went to meps and signed life away monday.
I could have shipped that day with a bunch of other guys but decided to go into DEP for 6 months to make sure finances get squared away (boy was it tempting to go, there's no crappier feeling than being the only guy NOT shipping that day). So for me, could have been about a week, otherwise 6 months :(

It seems that my Brothers and Poolees have missed your question!
First of all what service were you in? Second-- what was the RE-3 for (was there a letter after the RE-3)? Third---it all depends on why you were discharge from oyur initial enlistment and what the VA is doing for you now!
My friend this will not be a quick draw enlistment, there are several issues that must be addressed first. I would suggest you talk to a recruiter and tell him the whole story, then let him give you advice, as to what you need to do. Don't throw away the VA without investigating all possibilities!

Actually there devil no we haven't.
His question was:
"What is the average time span between first visit with a recruiter and shipdate ?!!"
Which we addressed.
Now to go in to detail about his RE code, that is a different story and even if he did tell us what it is/was we still wouldn't be able to assist any further. Unless you are in fact a recruiter.
Either way, the only way to know is to speak to your recruiter and find out.
(Edit: and since he said medical issues, I'm gonna guess and say it is a RE-3P code)...meaning medical discharge. They probably won't let you enlist. Especially the Marines.

Nah... actually, like i said, I have some issues to deal with first.... which Ive done the research and according to:
MPPM ENLPROC, Page 3-96: NOTE: EPILEPSEY
Individuals who have had seizures since the age of 5, but not during the 5 years immediately preceding examination for military service, and who have not been taking any type of anti-convulsant medication for the entire period, will be considered on an individual case basis. Documentation in these cases must be from an attending or consulting physician, and the original electroencephalogram tracing (not a copy) taken within the preceding 3 months must be submitted to the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) for evaluation.
I know what I have to do, and I will Become A Marine !!!!!!
Like I said.... I like to plan ahead.........
