Trustee returns to Canton board

When Todd Caccamo returned to the Canton Board of Trustees on June 12, he brought a special token back with him.

He presented the board with a Canton Township flag that board members sent to him while he served with the 1st battalion, 24th Marines in Fallujah, Iraq.

“It’s seen combat, it’s been shot at a few times,” said Caccamo, “but there’s no holes in it, because it was pretty close to me, so that’s a good thing.”

Caccamo’s return to the board brought friendly greetings, warm first Father’s Day wishes and cake for the trustees and citizens who attended the meeting.

Caccamo said he was humbled by the support of the community and mindful of the sacrifices of service personnel and their families.

“There’s so many other people that are forever changed,” he said.

Supervisor Tom Yack said the flag would replace the Canton Township flag flown in front of the township administrative offices.
