Role player medevaced from urban-combat drill

A Marine acting as an Iraqi role player during a pre-deployment exercise at Twentynine Palms, Calif., was medically evacuated by airlift to a local hospital after sustaining an “injury in the upper chest region” at around 1 p.m. Wednesday, a base spokesman said.
Corps officials are investigating the incident, which took place during an urban-combat drill at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, “to ensure proper procedures were in place at the time of the training,” said Capt. Neal Fisher, base spokesman. “That is the scope of the investigation right now.”
No other details were immediately available, Fisher said.
