The most recent Newsletter for G-3-1 (#2007-3), reports that prayers and remembrances are requested for retired Captain Rocco Zullo, who, as G-3-1 1st Sgt., made the Inchon Landing, Commanded by Col. Chesty Puller. For his actions the night of 28 Nov, 1950, as elements of the 3rd Bn along with Col Drysdale of the Royal Marines advanced from Koto-ri to Hagaru, some 11 miles, 1st Sgt Zullo was awarded the Navy Cross. Thought to have died from wounds received, 1st Sgt Zullo was left with dead Marines at Hagaru around midnight, as the ongoing battle for Hagaru continued on through the night and for the next several days and nights. Miraculously later that first night, with weather 20 below zero, 1st Sgt Zullo was found not dead, and though having been left outside and stacked up with the dead, in the terrible weather, was finally removed to the medical facility, survived his wounds and harsh circumstances.
