Five people were indicted for separate murders, including one that took place in the Jacksonville Mall parking lot, by an Onslow County grand jury on Tuesday.

In the mall parking lot case, Larry Jaimall West, 22, a Camp Lejeune Marine attached to 3rd Battalion 8th Marines, Lima Company, was handed a true bill indictment for murder in the stabbing death of Christian Cardenas on March 3.

The killing was gang related, according to Jacksonville Police Chief Mike Yaniero.

When police arrived at the parking lot that Saturday night, Cardenas, who was attending the Onslow County Learning Center, was fighting to stay alive after being stabbed multiple times, police said at the time. He was later pronounced dead at Onslow Memorial Hospital.

Anthony Jones, 18, of Country Club Road and Devin Malcolm Wood, 21, also a Marine attached to 3/8, Lima Company, were indicted for being accessories after the fact. According to the indictment, Jones and Wood attempted to help West escape arrest for the killing. Jones is also accused of trying to hide West's bloody clothing, and Wood allegedly cleaned a cut on West's finger, the document said.

In the second case, Niklaus Walter Froehlich, 21, of Sandridge Road was indicted for murder in the April 15 killing of Blake Moors.

During a party at Moors' house on Crown Point Road, Froehlich punched Moors so hard in the face that it resulted in his death, Onslow County Sheriff's Department Capt. Rick Sutherland said. Froehlich was not attending the party, but passing through the neighborhood on the way to someone else's house, Sutherland said.

"It appears to be a totally random incident," he said.

The third case saw Jose Aguilar, 26, a Camp Lejeune Marine of Shamrock Drive, indicted for murder in the death of his 2-year-old son, Damien.

Aguilar told authorities on the day of the incident, April 1, that his son's head injuries were a result of his falling in the bath tub, Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown said. When the boy died on April 10, an autopsy revealed enough evidence to support homicide as the cause of death, the sheriff said.

Aguilar was arrested in 2003 for allegedly shaking his son, who was 2 months old at the time.

The fourth murder indictment was handed down against Eddie Whitson, 56, of Coleman Drive for the killing of his wife, Connie Whitson on Jan. 2.

Whitson stabbed his wife to death in a neighbor's apartment after she fled there following a domestic dispute, Jacksonville police Capt. Billy Houston said.

Whitson returned to his apartment after the killing, where he was still holding the knife when police arrived, Houston said.

In the fifth case, Gregory Michael Seaman, 20, of Hoot Owl Lane was indicted for murder in the Dec. 18 slaying of Alexander Scott.

Seaman became upset when Scott said he was going to force Seaman out of the mobile home they shared at the time, Brown said. Seaman then walked up behind Scott, wrapped a red tie-down strap around his neck, and dragged him down the hallway, Brown said. A mother of a 16-year-old witness to the incident called police, the sheriff said.

"The deputies made contact with the landlord, who opened the mobile home," Brown said. "Down the hallway at the back door of the mobile home lay Alexander dead. There was a red strap around his neck, and it was tied to the door knob."
