Lanes to close at Lejeune’s main gate

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Security upgrades may slow traffic flow in and out of the main gate at Camp Lejeune, N.C., through most of this month.
All six lanes in and out of the main gate will remain open between 4 a.m. and 8 p.m. Construction will cut either inbound or outbound traffic to one lane between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. Inbound and outbound lanes will not be affected at the same time.
Construction includes the installation of tire-deflation devices and is expected to wrap up June 26.
Security upgrades at the base’s gates began in February. The base closed a highway in April previously used by the public to anyone without a base sticker.
