Gardner renominated as three-star

President Bush nominated Lt. Gen. Emerson Gardner Jr. for reappointment to three-star general and to be principal deputy director of Program Analysis and Evaluation in the office of the secretary of defense.
Gardner is currently deputy commander for Programs and Resources at Marine Corps headquarters, according to a Defense Department press release.
A graduate of Duke University, Gardner served as a helicopter pilot with all three Marine air wings. He was a White House liaison officer and presidential helicopter command pilot from 1980 to 1985.
He was also the commander of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit from 1996 to 1998 and served as assistant deputy commandant for aviation from 1998 to 2000.
