Possibly a bit off topic but I was wondering if any of you knew of any places that you can find cheap flights, I'm soon to get leave and I'm trying to get from CA to NC. Thank you for any help you can give.

Space Available Flights

If you don't absolutely, positively have to be somewhere by a certain date and time, you can take advantage of the Space Available Travel program. Space Available Travel (http://www.*************/Travel/Content1/0,,SAF_overview,00.html), better known as Space A or military hops, is a unique privilege provided to servicemembers, retirees and their families. Through this program, you could fly for virtually free. However, flying Space A requires a lot of flexibility and patience. Check out the Space Available Travel (http://www.*************/Travel/Content1/0,,SAF_overview,00.html) section for more details.

Military Discounts on Air Tickets

Many commercial airlines offer discounted airfares to the military community. Check out the Military Travel Discount Center (http://www.*************/Travel/TravelDiscount/0,13396,,00.html) for a list of available military airfares and other discounts.

Promotional Rates and Special Deals

Keep in mind that military deals on air tickets are not always the best deals out there. In many cases, special promotional rates and limited time deals will offer you a better discount than the standard military rate. Explore your options in the Military Travel Discount Center (http://www.*************/Travel/TravelDiscount/0,13396,,00.html).http://www.military(REMOVE THIS).com/Travel/Content1/0,,cheapest_flights,00.html (http://www.military(REMOVE THIS).com/Travel/Content1/0,,cheapest_flights,00.html)

since your right up the road from Mira Mar I would try flight ops. Also there maybe a Marine that knows somebody right there at Pendelton at 3rd Maw that could help, or as suggested school flights or MAC flights.

I am not speaking for the rest of the country but the civilian flights here in California are actively overbooking every flight, and then bumping the excess usually the lower priced ticket holders (including unfortunatly military) there is no guarantee of a future flight either as the bumping is going on these flights also. This was on the local news just the other night. Getting a "hop" from the military one has to make prior arrangements in advance and these are always space available and bumping is usually due to higher ranks needing the flight (officers)
