The Washington Bayhawks professional lacrosse team will donate half the money from its ticket sales for their game against the Long Island Lizards on Saturday, June 9, to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that helps veterans and families of those who have been severely injured.

The team was inspired by former Army lacrosse player John Fernandez, who lost both his feet in Iraq, according to spokeswoman Allison Kroeger. The Bayhawks, who play at Georgetown University stadium in Washington, will have a halftime ceremony at 4 p.m. for the Wounded Warrior Project.

Tickets are $24 for adults and $19 for youth 12 and under.

The Bayhawks team, originally in Baltimore, were among the first professional lacrosse teams when they began playing in 2001. They moved to Washington for the 2007 season.

For more information, contact the Bayhawks ticket office at 1 (866) 99-HAWKS (1-866-994-2957) or visit their Web site.
