Any of you Marines ever meet the Sgt Major of the Marine Corps? I did one time, 1970 I was working in HqCo, Hq, FMFLANT CLNC, PC&AO office, when one day in November this man walked in my office lookng for Gen Fegan's office:

Dailey</th> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" style="background: lightsteelblue none repeat scroll 0% 50%; -moz-background-clip: initial; -moz-background-origin: initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: initial; text-align: center; vertical-align: middle;">born February 17, 1917</td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" style="border-bottom: 1px solid rgb(170, 170, 170); text-align: center; font-size: 90%; line-height: 1.25em;">http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/c/c7/Dailey_JW.jpg/150px-Dailey_JW.jpg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Dailey_JW.jpg) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/5/52/Marine_Corp_Sergeant_Major_of_the_Marine_Corp.JPG/60px-Marine_Corp_Sergeant_Major_of_the_Marine_Corp.JPG (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Marine_Corp_Sergeant_Major_of_the_Marine_Cor p.JPG)
5th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps (1969-1973)</td></tr></tbody> </table>
I was, to say the least, in awe! I'd never seen that insignia, in real life, and it scared the chit out of me that he spoke to me, a low ranking Corporal. I'll never forget that day. Turns out, he loved to golf with the General. They went way back in the Corps, it turned out. He was a really nice guy, he talked to me, asked me questions amd told me that if I ever needed his help to let him know, gave me his card and went to the Generals Office! A day I won't ever forget! Truly an honor for me!
