Colin Powell, Dick Cheney and George W. Bush go into a bar. Colin Powell orders first. "I'll have a B and C." The bartender asks, "What is a B and C?" "Bourbon and Coke," Powell says. Cheney orders. "And, I'll have a G and T." The bartender asks, "What's a G and T?" "Gin and tonic," Cheney replies. Bush wants to be cute, too. He says, "I'll have a 15." "OK," the bartender asks, "What's a 15?" Dubya says, "A 7 and 7."

He visited Hawaii while in office. He was interviewed immediately as he stepped off the plane. He said something very close to this...

"I'm very happy to be here in Hawaii. Hawaii is an island, and of course, it's always been an island... and, uh..well, ...an island is just a different kind of place. ..."

I find it interesting that you may think that I don't love my nation. I served as a Mariine also.

This country can do better and when this administration is over we will. I cannot remember a time when the nation was doing worse than it is now. I don't stop being a Yankees fan cause they don't win the WS every year.

I know that they will do better soon and moreover, they will win the WS again. I am not blind about them when they are not winning. I see the flaws and hope that they can correct them.

In this case (USA) we need a new manager. The current lot and the measures taken to rule the nation are unsustainable:flag:

I firmly think that Obama, Edwards or Paul would do a much better job than the current holder of the title.

An intelligent manager is what the job will be of the next president to deal with the difficulties left over from this admin. The defict, the wars, the USA not prepared for a natural or man-made disaster, health care, immigration are just the surface issues facing the next president.

JFK was a good democrat. He got Russia to back down with the nukes in Cuba.

drumcorpssnare
06-08-07, 01:40 PM
At the time, the "truth" was that Iraq had WMD. No one knew for certain until later this was false. We all knew Saddam gassed thousands of Kurds, with WMD's.

Kennedy was an "average" President who was given the status of "sainthood" only because he was assassinated. Granted, JFK didn't blink, and Krushev did. That was an important point in world history.

Who said, "The two most common elements in the universe are nitrogen and stupidity" ?

Clinton was one of four Presidents that didn't cut VA Benefits.

Regan, Bush Sr. and Junior cut VA benefits.

Most often when "cuts" by the government are advertised by the media it means that one party or another hooked a ton of BS to the bill.. Or that the proposed raise was not as high, or slightly different than the party screaming that the other party is taking money away from the children or the Vets...

Because where I am sitting a 124 billion dollar bill with 2.5 billion of VA money stuck in at the bottom of the page.... Well that does not count as a VA bill in my book...

Links to the info would be great...

The VA health care is a conspiracy to scare the American people that government health care (socialized medicine) doesn't work.

And the purpose of that would be??? We all already know that socialized medicine will not work, well---unless our head is in the sand.

Sgt Leprechaun
06-11-07, 07:54 AM
Actually, since I don't get VA benefits, I'm unaware of either cuts or additions to same. However, I think what Holm is trying to say is that a cut, as defined by everyone OUTSIDE of gummint, is taking money from the budget you have already. That is a 'cut'. However, inside gummint, a 'cut' is when you ask for 300 gazillion dollars for something, and instead, only "get" 290 gazillion. Then, it's a "cut".

And, having dealt with the old military system of healthcare, and the 'hillarycare' that was foisted on us, I'll take the old way any day of the week. Tricare sucks. Socialized medicine...ask the folks in Canada or Britain how much THEY like it.

In my experience here in Chicgoland, Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital is doing a good job. You all know I can find fault with most anything, but overall what I've experienced and seen at Hinze I give them an "A".

In all honesty, putting my big fat mouth where my money is (considerable expense), as soon as I'm 65 in 6 months I will get the optional Medicare Plan "B"; then I'll have a choice between private or VA. I'm assuming I'll probably use the VA very little after that. I'll be less of a burden on the VA system and free up space for other Veterans http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/tsmileys2/01.gif
