Hey, Marines/Poolees, I have my own question now.

Is a long DEP the only way to enlist in the Corps, now? Back in '86, I shipped out about 10 days after my initial visit to MEPS.

Has anyone heard of anyone recently joining up so quickly?

I'm just curious.
Thanks,

That's what I find funny too - some of these kids are in DEP for a whole freakin year! Do you know how many times I change my mind in a DAY much less a YEAR!?!?!?!?!?!

When I enlisted in 1969, March 18, I tried like hell to get them to let me leave sooner than May12, but to ends! Yeah I don't see how these poolees do it! A year in DEP would be like a jail sentence to me! I want everything YESTERDAY!

I had to wait about 7 months to ship but I think that was just because the RS was above mission and filling all the seats on planes to SD that they could get.

I wanted to enlist so badly I joined DEP while I was a junior in H.S.
Then I shipped a week after my 18th b-day (jul 4...)

I couldn't leave fast enough...I had been slated to ship right after graduation..but it got changed..
