Do I have any say?

Hey guys, Im joining the Marines after High School and Im just wondering if I have any say in where I get stationed. I've heard that you can choose between East or West coast. Is that true? The MOS I want is something in Aviation Support. (If that makes a difference).

You may get to request, but there are no promises. You go where the Corps needs you.

They give you a "wish list" or at least they did for my MOS. It's still all depending on where they need you.

yea i got east coast west coast overseas.. and chose in order of my wants. For the most part we all got what we wanted my class did.

Yep - it's a "wish list" - I pretty much got what I asked for (East Coast, West Coast, Overseas) - I went to TN & FL for schools, El Toro on the West Coast and then went to Iwakuni.

It's all a toss of the coin dude.

I don't know about now but in my day there was aviation schools in Millington NAS.

NAS Millington (outside Memphis) - had to go there for bomb school then had to do like a 6 (I think) week rockets & missiles in Mayport FL.

My father and uncle both worked on Milington Naval Base. Uncle was a Command master chief and father a Lt.
Base has changed so much.

ok cool thanks guys. I was just wondering. I hope I get to go somewhere on the west coast because that where im originaly from. but wherever I go is cool with me

They let us fill out a wish list of what unit we wanted to go to. There were only 6 possibilities (7th, 8th, & 9th Comm Bn and MWCS 18, 28, & 38) We listed all six in the order we would want. I was sent to the one dead last on my list. It happens!
