A group of Oklahoma Reserve Marines has been called to active duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Approximately, 20-Marines and 2-Navy Corpsmen from Anti-Tank Training Company located in Broken Arrow have reported for duty Thursday.

The Marines say these Marines and Sailors will subsequently deploy to Iraq after several months of training in North Carolina. The military says the Anti-Tank Training Company will augment Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 23rd Marines, Second Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for an approximate 7-12 month deployment.

Marine Reserve units from the Tulsa/Broken Arrow area have been activated in the past, including the Korean War, Operation Desert Storm, and Operation Enduring Freedom.
